Valldemossa has a large amount of heritage, and most of it enjoys special protection, having been declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (BIC) (Heritage of Cultural Interest) or Bien Catalogado (BC) (Listed Heritage). The BIC are the most important movable and immovable assets, classified into different categories: monument, historic complex, historic place, place of ethnological interest, archaeological area, paleontological zone. The BC are movable and immovable assets that -despite not having the same significance as BIC – are of enough importance and value in order to constitute an asset that merits special protection.
The Palace of King Sancho- Charterhouse, Torre Son Galceran, the gardens of Son Moragues, Son Gual, Son Galceran, the fountains of sa Cova, Son Moragues, and Son Galceran, the Marges de Son Niu d’Alt, the Cruz de la Vila de Dalt and that of Avall, the prehistoric remains of Son Matge, the prehistoric complex of Son Ferrandell and Son Olesa, are some of the many heritage sites given Heritage of Cultural Interes (BIC) status.
